(A*) Applying Lean Principles to Streamline Work and Maintain Productivity (D4)
*Advanced* “Lean” is a methodology, often mentioned in conjunction with “Six Sigma” and “Agile,” that is based on principles from the Toyota Production System (TPS), and seeks to maximize customer value while minimizing waste. After an introduction to Lean concepts, you’ll hear how it applies to administrative professionals and project management. One of the ways to help a workplace become more Lean is through the application of visual management tools. By documenting and standardizing processes, and creating and tracking simple metrics, you can make it easier to identify your priorities and where you need to focus your time. Be prepared to reevaluate what you do and how you do it to ensure that tasks flow and contribute to more than just the day-to-day busywork. At its core, Lean and the use of visual management is intuitive, accessible, and fun, and can be applied to any aspect of one’s life.
