More Information:
Administrative fellowship programs in higher education offer an excellent way to support academic, professional, and leadership development among students, faculty, and staff. These programs can serve a variety of purposes, from creating a pipeline of qualified admins from partnering colleges to fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and supporting diversity initiatives. However, designing and implementing a successful fellowship program requires careful planning, alignment with institutional goals, and robust infrastructure to ensure its long-term success.
In early 2024, The Stanford Administrative Champions, in partnership with the Graduate School of Education at Stanford, developed the first ever Stanford Administrative Fellowship Program: a curriculum and internship program that placed students from a local community college with an administrative mentor in various departments across Stanford. In this program, the fellows learned the basics of the administrative profession.
